junior membership campaign – 2017

Greetings from Maine! As the days here grow longer, the Board of Trustees of the Biddeford Pool Yacht Club are turning our thoughts towards the Summer and another fun season of sun, sailing and socializing. We are writing to tell you about a special junior membership initiative we are running this season only.

As you may or may not know, children of BPYC members in good standing may join the club with no initiation fee if, and only if, you join the first year you become eligible (the first year you are older than 25 as of June 15th). In part because of some recent changes to membership policy, and in part because we have not communicated this policy as broadly as we might have in the past, we are offering a one-time initiation amnesty for any junior member who joins the club between now and May 31, 2017. This represents a savings of up to $2,576.00.

This year we also voted to extend our Junior Membership age limit from 30 to 35, so any child of a current member, who is age 26-35 this summer, may take advantage of this offer. You may also bypass the normal membership procedures (involving three sponsor letters), making this truly as simple as pushing a button – just go here, fill out your information, and you’re in! Junior Individual dues are only $412 per year, while Junior Family dues are only $644. (password to Members Site is nimrod)

BPYC is a great place to spend time with friends and family, this summer and every summer. Members can borrow boats from the Club sailing fleet (based on availability), join the Rhodes 18 races every Saturday in July and August, and enroll in adult sailing lessons. Off the water, the regular Tuesday night cookouts have become the place to be if you’re in the Pool mid-week, and we have a full slate of other social events including the classic holiday luncheons and two recently added cocktail parties. And of course, nothing beats just wandering down to the Club to enjoy the view on a quiet evening.  

Additionally, the Board is committed to adding more Junior Member-specific programing at the Club starting this summer. We have created a committee to conceive and roll out new events, and dedicated funds to support them. Let us know if you want to get involved!
